Langkawi Trip: Day 1 Part 1 - Penang -> Langkawi

This is a fun and memorable trip with my colleagues and bf, with many drama scenes happening throughout the 3 days. More details below... We have 11 people going together (5 guys and 6 gals).

As the journey starts...

On 25th October 2008 Saturday morning, 11 of us gathered at Penang Port to board the ferry to Langkawi. Ferry ticket now costs us RM115 for a return trip. We bought the earliest departure time at 8.15AM and was told to be at the departure point 30 minutes before that time.

First drama started when Timmy (queen of being late), nearly cannot make it. It was 8.15am with everyone inside the ferry and luckily, finally at the last minute, she make it. That's close.

It took 3 hours during the journey and I felt a bit sea sick. Face turn pale and white. Luckily I've taken the sea sick medicine which I got from the panel clinic. Else... I might vomit. (Paiseh lo if vomit). Well, not to say nobody vomit during the journey. The "uerk... uerk..." sound can be heard very clearly from our seats as there are a few actually vomitted.

At 11.30am, the ferry reach Jetty point, and our first mission is to get a van/car rental. You will notice that there are many agents or so called sales person promoting their services... "Rent a car, Island Hopping package" as they distributing their name cards to the tourists.

2nd drama: a guy with a shirt that reads "E=MC2" approaching us asking us whether wants to rent a car or not. We were looking for van that can accomodates 11 pax and he say he got. At first, he offered us RM400 for these 3 days. (It was actually only renting fo 2 days if you can actually calculated it from 25th October to 27th October). When he showed us the van we were renting, we are not satisfied with the condition as it was a Vanette van. So we turned down his offer and went hunting from other agents. Then this E=MC2 guy started to follow us around wherever we go. So annonying...

Finally, we finalized on 2 car (1 Waja & 1 Wira Auto) for RM350 for 2 days with a deposit payment of RM200. The car rental is opposite of Jetty Point. Another interesting scene is when we try to nego for returning the car at a later time than the one specified, this fatty guy ($^%#!) just simply throw a chair as a sign of his anger. How rude is that. I wonder if he will be able to get more customer based on his attitude. Guess he don't know what is "Customer Service". Anyway, hop we go with the car and performing checks on the car before driving off. Pump each car with RM50 fuel estimating enough for these 3 days trip.

First stop is to find a place with foods to satisfy our hungry little tummy. We stop by a Malay stall for foods. Suddenly, we saw yellow thingy thing walking on the road... It's DIGI boy. But he's not in full suit. But rather, just use a lantern shape cloth and covered himself. Anyway, my friends, who's fond of DIGI boy, rush towards them and snap photos with them (getting free balloons as well).

Next is proceed to hotel to check-in. We booked 2 hotels are one is from the hotel membership club which Neo has reserved (Aseania resort) and another hotel is Langgura Baron Resort. We booked 2 Superior rooms (2 queen beds) from Langgura and it cost us RM130 per nite per room. Room condition is good, clean and enough to accomodate 4 adults.

After that, we drove to Aseania Resort which is just a distance away. It has a 154.4 meters swimming pool complete with wavepool, slides and lazy river, longest swimming pool in Malaysia (but we didn't use it).

We got 2 suite rooms with 1 king size bed in each room. The bathroom is equipped with a bathrub, nice for a relaxing shower.

Eong Chen's 26th Birthday Celebration

Prior to his birthday, I started to google cupcakes website and contacts online to order and customize a cupcakes as a birthday cake for him as it is quite special and nice. Finally, found this website, http://www.emmagem.com/2008/04/08/malaysias-online-cupcake-store-directory/ that contains a directory listing of all cupcakes in Malaysia. There are 2 websites listed under Penang region and another one which I got the website from my friend.
After doing some survey and self assesment, contacted Cupcakes4you to check the availability regarding order and design. Got a fast reply from Joosing and Poh Yit and they suggested a few ideas to me. Finally, decided to order from them and selected the 49 mini cupcakes type. As the design is unique and based on their creativity, I won't be able to know how it will actually look like. But based on all their previous design, I'm happy with their design and let them to put their thinking cap on the design. ^_^

So, today (4th October 2008), with a map in hand, I started to drive to the collection address in Barrack Road. The map is easy to understand and the location is easy to find.
Happily driving to collect the cupcakes. ^_^

When I arrive at the house, as I'm alone, Joosing suggested that I put the cupcakes under the car seat and ask me to drive carefully as the cupcakes are quite fragile... Well, it's better to bring along a friend to help you carry the cupcakes as even though I'm quite careful and drive quite slow, one of the cupcake do fell on another cupcake.

Notice that the "IR" word is a bit "cacat" and the white schnauzer ear got some purple cream on it.
I'm very happy with the design as the 4 schnauzer are very very cute. These 4 schnauzhers are my bf's pets (although Xiao Bai already RIP). And Cupcakes4you also post up the photos as well. Check it out at http://cupcakes4you.blogspot.com/2008/10/pictures4you.html.

First stop, drive to his office to give him a surprise.

After that, we went back his house to show his mum the cupcakes and capture some photos.
Next: Lucky draw session
This year, I'm giving him to actually pick up lucky draw item for his birthday. I pre-decided some of the birthday gifts ideas and put each and everyone into a single envelope.

The lists are:
  1. Sunglass
  2. Batman Lego Car Model
  3. Seiko Limited Edition Watch
  4. 32" LCD TV
  5. Angpow RM10
  6. Angpow RM500
  7. Angpow RM1000
  8. A complete dressover

Well, I actually bought him a sunglass (which he likes) and also decided to give him a gift which he selected from the lucky draw. Rules of the game is simple. He will pick an envelope without knowing what's inside. I will open up the envelope, look at the gift, and then counter offer him cash money in return to buy his envelope. I will also allow him to select whether does he want to get the prize inside the envelope, or to change to another envelope.

For the first round, he picked up an envelope which contains a Watch. After some round of negotiating for the envelope, he decided to change to another envelope. This time, he picked up the grand prize of 32" LCD TV. I guess he knows it already as he say he wanted what's inside the envelope. So, finally he WON this 32" LCD TV as his birthday gift!!! Nevertheless, I still give him the sunglass as an additional birthday gift as the TV will only be shipped to him when his new house is ready. ^_^

See how happy he looks with his sunglass and holding the lucky draw item.
After the prize giving thingy, we went to Queensbay Mall to have lunch. He says he prefer to eat Chinese food, so we head over to Wongkok Restaurant. We ordered Hokkien Fried Rice, BBQ Pork Chop Noodle, Butter Bun, Crispy Egg Tart, Longan Winter Melon and Ice Ying Yong Tea.

Finish our lunch and walk around QB, then we drove to SP Setia to see their Show Village. They have many types show room design and type. Among some of the design displayed:

Dinner time, lazy to go out eat. So we just go "ta pao" Marrybrown.
