Langkawi Trip: Day 2 Part 1 - Island Hopping

Early in the morning, had breakfast at a stall nearby the hotel. Our hotel is located in Pantai Cenang, so it is very near to Underwater World, the place to gather to depart for Island Hopping trip. We pre-book the island hopping trip together with car rental, so we manage to rent a boat for 11 pax at RM270. Quite a deal if you calculate per pax (around RM25).

All getting ready for the trip....

Around 9am, we met with the tour agent and depart to a beach near to Awana Porto Malai to board the boat. In this island hopping package, it includes visiting 3 islands and eagle feeding.
First stop, we went to Pulau Beras Basah and were left on the island for 1 hour. (Imagining that we were the "LOST" cast surviving in the island for 1 hour... haha) What we do over there? Erm, basically nothing much besides swimming, or more of playing in the water as I don't really know how to swim.
Next stop, our boat guy came and fetch us to another island.
Well, not really stopping on an island, but just watching eagle feeding session on Pulau Singa Besar. Basically is the boat guy drop some chicken skins/flesh/feets (couldn't really recall, but it looks like skin to me) into the water and he drove the boat a distance away. Then, these eagles will fly down getting its meal.
A bonus to us is a visit to the bat cave. On the caves wall, basically if you look up, you will notice the bats sticking itself on the wall.
Last stop, we drop by Pulau Dayang Bunting. Before reaching the island, you can see there's a shape that resembles a pregnant lady laying down with the head facing up.
One incident happen whereby the bread which we bought was robbed by the monkey in a broad daylight. Funny thing is my friend's bf, Neo, ran after it in his swimming trunk carrying a backpack. And lucky for that monkey to climb up the tree and escaped. Monkeys here are quite daring and clever. Look at how they open up this Mr Potato can and take his bite.
In this island, we rent a paddle boat manual for RM15 and enjoying the view. The weather was hot, so paddling for 30 minutes can actually burn your legs. (it did burn my bf and my legs). If paddling is not really prefered, you can rent a solar boat where you don't need to paddle at all. It is double the price of the manual paddle boat (RM30). ^_^. There's also canoeing available at this spot (RM15 for 30 minutes).
It's like a trend nowadays in most of the tourist spots whereby there will be a photographer taking photos of you, and before leaving the place, they will print it out, put it into a momentos and sell it to you. So, if next time you decide to keep it as a souvenir, remember to smile to the camera. ^_^

Around 7pm, we drive to Four Seasons Resort which is just few kilometres away. The room rate for a standard room starts from RM1800... Well, we went in, greeted warmly by the staffs and continue our camwhoring until 7.40pm... ^_^

Some of the nice shots in Four Seasons Resort:
The wall with the stones that can be removed

Genie in a porcelain
Stunt in action
Wall of Lanterns

Wall of Lanterns (with lights on)

Sand Courtyard Gardens

Group Camp Fire

After that, we drove down to Petronas Quay for dinner. Walk around and settled our dinner in Tapas.
Comments from my friend is that the mushroom soup is very nice. But the other soup... (forgotten the special name) is ... (speechless). Look at the photo below, a picture describe a thousand words. Patrick says it is worst than drinking bitter tea. As for Kean Wei, he says that after the ice melted, it taste not bad. To know how it taste, go try it out. ^_^

Langkawi Trip: Day 1 Part 2 - Tanjung Rhu Beach

Previous Entry:

After checked in hotel Langgura Baron Resort and hotel Aseania Resort, we proceed to Tanjung Rhu beach. Tanjung Rhu beach is located at the northern point of Langkawi island. It is one of the most popular beach with nice view of a few islands from the beach.

First thing to do is to enjoy a thirst quenching coconut drink. It cost RM3.50 per coconut. The flesh is soft, but the drink is bitter.

What are the activities you can do on this beach? Well, there's many. Just to name a few:
  1. Take up a Mangrove Tour package (includes Eagle Feeding, Cave Tour, Fishing)

  2. Photo shooting scenery... or a boat

  3. Bikini photo shooting (look at the scene behind)

  4. Playing games (Eagle catching little chicken; or catching mother chicken as well?)

  5. Film crew shooting

  6. Group photos taking

  7. Funny photos taking

You can also buy souvenirs back for friends and family here.

Langkawi Trip: Day 1 Part 1 - Penang -> Langkawi

This is a fun and memorable trip with my colleagues and bf, with many drama scenes happening throughout the 3 days. More details below... We have 11 people going together (5 guys and 6 gals).

As the journey starts...

On 25th October 2008 Saturday morning, 11 of us gathered at Penang Port to board the ferry to Langkawi. Ferry ticket now costs us RM115 for a return trip. We bought the earliest departure time at 8.15AM and was told to be at the departure point 30 minutes before that time.

First drama started when Timmy (queen of being late), nearly cannot make it. It was 8.15am with everyone inside the ferry and luckily, finally at the last minute, she make it. That's close.

It took 3 hours during the journey and I felt a bit sea sick. Face turn pale and white. Luckily I've taken the sea sick medicine which I got from the panel clinic. Else... I might vomit. (Paiseh lo if vomit). Well, not to say nobody vomit during the journey. The "uerk... uerk..." sound can be heard very clearly from our seats as there are a few actually vomitted.

At 11.30am, the ferry reach Jetty point, and our first mission is to get a van/car rental. You will notice that there are many agents or so called sales person promoting their services... "Rent a car, Island Hopping package" as they distributing their name cards to the tourists.

2nd drama: a guy with a shirt that reads "E=MC2" approaching us asking us whether wants to rent a car or not. We were looking for van that can accomodates 11 pax and he say he got. At first, he offered us RM400 for these 3 days. (It was actually only renting fo 2 days if you can actually calculated it from 25th October to 27th October). When he showed us the van we were renting, we are not satisfied with the condition as it was a Vanette van. So we turned down his offer and went hunting from other agents. Then this E=MC2 guy started to follow us around wherever we go. So annonying...

Finally, we finalized on 2 car (1 Waja & 1 Wira Auto) for RM350 for 2 days with a deposit payment of RM200. The car rental is opposite of Jetty Point. Another interesting scene is when we try to nego for returning the car at a later time than the one specified, this fatty guy ($^%#!) just simply throw a chair as a sign of his anger. How rude is that. I wonder if he will be able to get more customer based on his attitude. Guess he don't know what is "Customer Service". Anyway, hop we go with the car and performing checks on the car before driving off. Pump each car with RM50 fuel estimating enough for these 3 days trip.

First stop is to find a place with foods to satisfy our hungry little tummy. We stop by a Malay stall for foods. Suddenly, we saw yellow thingy thing walking on the road... It's DIGI boy. But he's not in full suit. But rather, just use a lantern shape cloth and covered himself. Anyway, my friends, who's fond of DIGI boy, rush towards them and snap photos with them (getting free balloons as well).

Next is proceed to hotel to check-in. We booked 2 hotels are one is from the hotel membership club which Neo has reserved (Aseania resort) and another hotel is Langgura Baron Resort. We booked 2 Superior rooms (2 queen beds) from Langgura and it cost us RM130 per nite per room. Room condition is good, clean and enough to accomodate 4 adults.

After that, we drove to Aseania Resort which is just a distance away. It has a 154.4 meters swimming pool complete with wavepool, slides and lazy river, longest swimming pool in Malaysia (but we didn't use it).

We got 2 suite rooms with 1 king size bed in each room. The bathroom is equipped with a bathrub, nice for a relaxing shower.
