Bukit Tinggi Trip: French Village Getaway

Vacation.... Yay ^_^

This is our first trip together and also my first time visiting Bukit Tinggi. Why do we pick this place? We wanted to find somewhere locally and at the same time able to getaway from the hectic work. We've been to Cameron many times before and Genting is under renovation outdoor, so I guess there'll be a lot of dust and only indoor activities to "lepak" on. So we decided to checkout this place. It was in May where we have a public holiday for Labour Day and we decided to go on that time. We spent a 2D1N in Colmar Tropicale resort and on our way back, we drop by IKEA in Kuala Lumpur for some light/window shopping before heading back to Penang.

Bukit Tinggi (French Village)

Bukit Tinggi is located in Pahang, just 48km away from Kuala Lumpur via the Karak Highways. It is well known for its French-styled Colmar Tropicale and Zen inspires Japanese Garden. The Colmar Tropicale retains the European-style architecture, decorated with cobblestone courtyard and streams of cafes and restaurants around the square, entertained by street performances and live bands, bringing you to a whole new European experience.

How To Get There

As we are driving down from Penang, we use Lebuhraya Utara-Selatan and it took us about 5-6 hours (including traffic jam during the journey). If you are driving from Kuala Lumpur, it is easily accessbile from Karak Highway via a 45 minutes drive by car and from Singapore takes 6 hours.
Shuttle service is also available if you don't plan to drive up by car. Below are the schedules and fares inclusive of entrance ticket fee. Click to view for larger image.

Happy Valentines Day

It's another year of me celebrating as a single. Here I would like to wish everyone to have all the happiness and xing fu always. :)

This year, Chap Goh Meh (15th day of Chinese New Year) also known as Chinese Valentine's Day coincides with Western Valentine's Day, 14th of February. For those singles, it is a tradition to toss mandarin orange into the sea in search for love. They can write their messages, contacts and even facebook page on the oranges hoping that their future spouse.

The same wish I have every year, wishing everyone found their happiness and living happily ever after. =)

Food Hunt: Zi Zai Restaurant 自在饭店 @ Paya Terubong, Penang

Inspired by my friend Dave who showed us his blog about heritage food hunt yesterday during dinner, jokingly I told him that I will cover for Paya Terubong area. I guess this will be the first post about food in Paya Terubong area, hopefully not the last. =P

Until end of this month (31st October 2013), they are celebrating their 4th anniversary and promotion of 1 person 1 free drink.

There's 5 of us on that day, so we ordered some of their famous dishes recommended. My friend wanted to try something like kimchi, but was told that need to pre-order. Overall those dishes that we ordered are considered normal with reasonable price. But we felt that the lala served on that day were a bit too small but taste is good. Nevertheless, the sweet and sour chicken dish reminds me of my mum's cooking.
Their signature dishes
Fish meat & tofu in claypot, RM18
Kang kong, RM8
Original lala, RM8
Sweet & sour chicken, RM10

Front view at night
Our bill add up to RM49
